Mastiff Size is Huge

The Mastiff. The name alone in the dog world brings up images of a large and heavy dog that can be very intimidating for people. However, if you are the owner of one of these dogs then you know that they are a gentle giant and with the proper training the size is no longer a problem that you have to deal with. Here is some information that I found with my own Mastiff about his size.

The first size issue that I get asked about is how tall is he going to get because as a puppy he was already bigger than my fully grown Yorkie-Poo. So people often ask me as to how much bigger he is going to get because he is already the size of a small lap dog. So I often answer that he will be a little bit smaller than a Great Dane which helps people realize just how tall of a dog he is going to be.

The second question that is often asked is how much is he going to weigh and that is a common question because already at a little over a year old my little lap dog baby weights in at a touch over two hundred pounds. So people are always asking me how much he is going to weigh in at when he gets fully grown. Now this answer varies greatly depending on how well fed your little pup is and the size of his parents. Now for mine his father was close to three hundred pounds so mine should be about the same size. But the weight can vary from 160-220 on average for males, and the females are a little bit smaller.

The size of the Mastiff is rather you will want to make sure that you train them properly. Remember that the height is going to be a little bit smaller than the Great Dane, but the weight is what most people will remember your Mastiff for. So you will want to make sure that you get the proper training so that he will listen to you and your able to control him. If you want some more great information on the Mastiff and how to properly train them so the size will not be a bother for you you will want to visit helpmymastiffbehavior.info.
